The rough diamond expert-classifier-valuer, with a professional title, has the following competences:
- Perform physical inspections of imported and exported diamonds;
- Compare the details of the inspected diamonds with the details stated on their accompanying certificate;
- Opening of packages and batches of rough diamonds, where necessary, for inspection purposes;
- Verification that all documents relating to rough diamonds are sufficiently detailed and correspond to the imported or exported diamonds that are being inspected.
